This project has a three-fold purpose: to develop the capacity of scrutiny teams; to improve the Parliament’s outreach to citizens, especially at the local level, with emphasis on oversight/scrutiny mechanisms and to pilot successful outreach mechanism in local assemblies; to develop a system for real-time tracking of the State budget expenditure in the Parliament.
ReLOaD builds on the good practices of the Reinforcement of Local Democracy (LOD) project, another initiative financed by EU, which also represents the replication model in other Western Balkan countries.
Objective of the Project is to foster accountability in the National and local assemblies. The purpose is to bring MPs and local assembly representatives closer to their electorate, improve practices and transmit experiences from the national to the local level in terms of oversight and representation tools and close the accountability circle towards citizens.
The overall objective of the project is to enable the Government to drive forward a set of citizen-centric policy measures and interventions, which will make a substantial difference to the quality of life experienced by Serbia’s citizens
