2nd Youth Theater Festival started
2nd Youth Theater Festival started last night in Novi Pazar with the play "Antigone” performed by the young actors from Cultural center Pećinci. The festival was opened by the actor Mr. Branislav Trifunovic, who is also the President of the Jury and Festival’s main promoter.
“The Youth Theater Festival was initiated as a response to lack of cultural developments in this region, as well as an activity that aims at breaking the inter-ethnic prejudices. Our ambition is to make this a traditional youth event that will provide a platform for young actors to present their acting skills but also to learn more about their colleagues and friends, who are coming from different backgrounds and regions in Serbia” – said Mr.Trifunovic.
During seven Festival days, the audience will see eight theater plays that will be performed by actors from Kragujevac, Kruševac, Stara Pazova, Novi Pazar, Pecinci and Mostar. Theater fans from Sjenica, Tutin, Prijepolje, Priboj and Nova Varos will also be able to enjoy different plays in their cities. As part of the side events, members of festival Jury have organized workshops that will be held as an additional opportunity for young actors to learn more about their future call and to visit some of the most exciting cultural and historical sites of the region.
The special guest, Mr. Zijah Sokolovic, will perform his play "Violence has no excuse" on the streets of Novi Pazar on 26th August.
During the final evening, awards for the best performance, female and male role, and the best play will be awarded.
Youth Theater Festival is one of the initiatives within the Joint UN programme “Improving Human Security in Southwest Serbia”. At last year's festival, more than 5,000 people attended the festival. The winner of the first Youth Theater Festival was the Belgrade center E8, with a performance “Muskarcine”.
