    Youth Sleuths: Social Media and Investigative Journalism in Battle Against Corruption

    In 2013 young journalists published three dozen stories about corruption through social media and involved citizens to report corruption in the health sector through an SMS portal. What other ways are there and what more can be done to involve a greater number of citizens to investigate and report on corruption and other wrongdoings in social media?

    European Mobility Week 2013

    The European Mobility Week (EMW) was celebrated in Belgrade from 16 to 22 September 2013. EMW is a campaign dedicated to sustainable urban mobility, organized annually with the support of the Directorates-General for the Environment and Transport of the European Commission. This year’s EMW was the third campaign in a raw organized by the “Support to Sustainable Transport in the City of Belgrade”, project implemented by UNDP, Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection and the City of Belgrade. The theme of the EMW was “Clean Air – It’s Your Move!”

    Rent-a-bike in Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection

    Each year since 1990 the Human Development Report has published the Human Development Index (HDI) which was introduced as an alternative to conventional measures of national development, such as level of income and the rate of economic growth.     Another 17,000 Small Arms and Light Weapons Destroyed in Serbia - a total of 110,000 since 2003

    Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia (MoI) together with the UNDP/SEESAC organized a public destruction of yet another 17,000 pieces of confiscated and surplus small arms and light weapons (SALW) that were in the possession of the MoI. This was the last such destruction under the EU supported Arms Control Activities in the Western Balkans project implemented by UNDP/SEESAC since 2010, which envisaged a disposal of 40,000 pieces of SALW. With today’s destruction this target has been surpassed by over 5,000 pieces.
