Women's Empowerment

Gender inequality is pervasive despite a legal framework that protects women’s rights. UNDP and its partners are committed to ensuring equal participation for women and lives free of violence. According to UNDP study, 54 per cent of women were exposed to some form of violence during their lifetime. Women’s participation in economic activities and decision-making is low. Women and girls in rural areas, Roma, the long-term unemployed and persons with disabilities are particularly vulnerable.
