Public call: Art in the time of coronavirus

May 13, 2020

The worldwide pandemic has stopped all our regular activities and brought anxiety and uncertainty into our lives. More than ever, people have turned to culture, art and creative industries, thus showing how important these domains are for everyday life. Creativity provides food for the soul, and owing to modern technologies, artists and creative individuals have managed to reach their audience even during the lockdown period.

It is now time for the community to repay artists and creative individuals for their creative efforts and for their very hard work aimed at inspiring, consoling, encouraging and teaching us through numerous activities carried out in their own homes.

The National Platform Serbia creates and the studio for developing video games PlayrIX RS, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), are announcing a public call to professional artists and creative individuals of various profiles to show, by means of video recordings lasting up to 10 minutes, what they are capable of creating, how they create, what inspires them and why that kind of artistic expression is important to them and to society.

The support given to artists from the private sector, the studio for the development of video games PlayrIX RS, is an example of mutual support and help within the creative sector, provided by those who were affected to a lesser degree by the economic effects of the pandemic to those who are most vulnerable and most threatened.

Application form is available in the Serbian language. This public call shall be open until 23:59 o’clock on Sunday, 31st May 2020, and the results shall be published on the websites and social networks of the platform Serbia Creates and the UNDP by 22nd June 2020 at the latest.
