Bio-Waste Management Challenge: Application Deadline Extended!

April 6, 2020

Belgrade, April 6, 2020 - Due to the circumstances caused by the coronavirus epidemic in Serbia, the application deadline for the "Bio-waste Management Challenge" launched by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and supported by the Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (SIDA), is extended until May 15, 2020, 5 pm local time.

All interested applicants can obtain additional information through the virtual info days, which will be held on April 15 and April 29.

We would like to remind you that a public invitation to participate in the "Bio-waste Management Challenge" was opened on March 10, 2020 and the initial deadline for submitting innovative solutions for biodegradable waste management, in particular food and kitchen waste, as well as green waste from parks and gardens, was April 22, 2020.

The call for innovative ideas for more efficient management of food waste and green municipal waste is open for the local governments, public utility companies, research institutions and civil society organizations. The teams whose solutions get selected will collaborate with expert mentors, and the top five will receive co-financing to put their ideas into practice. They will also participate in study visits to Sweden, where they will learn first-hand from the best European examples. These solutions will help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increase the use of renewable energy and promote the circular economy.
